It’s no mean feat that Dodge has managed to build a street-legal car that will pick up the front tires on a launch. For some people, it’s probably worth spending the $96,666 that Dodge wants for the Challenger Demon 170.
How much would you pay for the privilege of owning one? Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Silver Springs wants you to pony up $386,321. It’s a limited edition car after all.
Buying a new car today is kind of a disaster. It’s difficult to find anything in inventory, and everything on the dealer lot is priced sky high and has an absurd interest rate attached to it. Most of the time dealers aren’t quadrupling the base price of a car with their asking price, however. With just 3,300 units built, the Dodge SRT Challenger Hellcat Demon 170 is an in-demand vehicle that collectors want, and most of them are already spoken for. This dealer is shooting its shot and asking $386,321 for a Challenger. You can get a base model for $32,465, and a 1,025 horsepower Hellephant crate motor for a smidge over 27 grand. Just build your own for sixty grand!
This is an asking price, obviously, and there’s nothing saying the dealer will actually get this price. But all it takes is one rich guy for whom a quarter mil is a rounding error to really want this thing, and boom, the dealer gets the big bonus they want. Every dealership in America knows that a sucker is born every minute, and that’s exactly what the sales manager is counting on here. What do you think, will someone actually pay a bit over a third of a million dollars for a Dodge?
